The Big Blue Ball on the Horizon?

Nikuradse from the forums dug up some information that leads us to believe that the long awaited ‘Big Blue Ball’ project is nearing release.

John Crosby, who is a big PR man and publicist for world music, reports in his blog that:

"The much anticipated Peter Gabriel / Various Artists album Big Blue
Ball moves nearer completion. Trailered heavily at Real World’s summer
media party in 2006, it’s looking likely a release date will soon be
confirmed for early- to mid-2008. The latest mixes sound brilliant,
though I understand there is still some final mixing to be done over
the winter months."

Also, Marc Bessant, one of the main graphic artists at Real World Records listed the cover work for ‘The Big Blue Ball’ by Various Artists as a work in progress.

In Tina’s latest update she mentions "a very special much-requested CD". Let’s all cross our fingers crossed for that one. You can keep up with speculation about this whole deal over in the forums. Thanks again to Nikuradse for his great detective work.

In other news, you only have until Monday to get your entry into The First Annual Solsbury Hill Forums Banner Contest Banners! So get to work!

Be sure to watch the Full Moon Club Update for September over at PeterGabriel.com. News highlights include:

  • A clip of the track Peter did for Sea Monsters (Different Stories, Different Lives)
  • News that Peter wrote a song and performed it for his parents’ diamond wedding anniversary
  • He’s been working on a few I/O tracks
  • A new Project: Bonobo Ape dating service
  • Real World getting a Film Score room

The update is also punctuated with a lovely acoustic guitar track. Well worth the 11 minutes it takes to watch it. If only he’d included a clip of the song he wrote for the diamond anniversary.

August Full Moon Update

You can all head over to PeterGabriel.com

and check out the August Full Moon Club update, which features Peter talking about the tour, clips of Family Snapshot from the tour, talk of The Imagined Village, Sevara’s new album, and absolutely no mention of I/O.

Well worth a visit for the clips of Family Snapshot if nothing else. Such well shot footage brings up hopes of a Warm Up Tour DVD. Here’s hoping…
